Mermaid Magic: Sixteen Siren of the Sea Must Have Pieces

~Mermaid Vibes All The Time~
Mermaids are magical and whimsical. They are also known as Sirens. Mermaids have the upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. The folklore and stories have been around for many years, in many different cultures. The most famous adaption of mermaids, is the fairytale, “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Andersen that became a Disney classic since its release in 1989. The male equivalent, is a Merman. Sometimes mermaids are portrayed as goddesses and femmes fatales, often found in love stories. Other times, they are associated with tragedies, shipwrecks and drownings. Some believe that explorers, centuries ago, used to be warned about mermaids because they were known to lure sailors with their singing and then take them down to their death. There have been many sightings of mermaids, even in recent years, but there is no hard proof. Regardless; it holds a sweet spot in our creative society.
The mermaid culture is now a popular theme in fashion, music, literature, film and art. It has become a staple in mainstream industries. Every June, there is a huge ‘Mermaid Parade’ in Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. The Coney Island Brewing company even has a Mermaid Pilsner. Iconic singer-songwriter, Lana Del Rey, has many references to mermaids and sirens of the sea. She has a song titled ‘Mermaid Motel’ about Coney Island, an unreleased album titled ‘Sirens’ and is inspired by the aquatic mythological creatures. At the Treasure Island hotel in Las Vegas, they have the pirate and mermaid show at the Sirens Cove, in the front of the hotel casino. Project Mermaids is a charity organization that allows your mermaid dreams to come true, by allowing you to dress up as a mermaid for a photo shoot in the water and/or on land. (Mermaid tail and all!) Sand Cloud is another great organization, devoted to helping preserve marine life. They have an amazing line of towels, which are all handwoven in Turkey. Every purchase from the boho line, contributes to saving marine life. As a portion of all sales go to the charity. (#SaveTheFishies!)
