Top Trending Hairstyles To Try This Spring

Hairstyles are the best accessory. When you’re having a good hair day, you feel empowered. It makes you feel ready to take on the world. This spring is about bringing all of the magnetic, chic and sleek, fairytale fantasy, feels back to your hairstyles. The whimsical looks, are both practical and upscale, all at once. It’s important to keep your hair fresh, healthy and shiny. Then apply these hairstyles and cuts to showcase the gorgeous locks. From hairstyles worn on the runway at New York Fashion Week, to celebrities looks on the red carpet, and seen on trendsetters of city streets, these trending hairstyles are being featured and flaunted everywhere! Here are the top trending hairstyles for you to rock this spring:

#1 Mermaid Braid

It’s all about the braids! In particular, the mermaid braid has been making a splash this season. It can be worn multiple ways: one braid itself, the half up – half down braid, a braided headband, or a braided bun. This versatile look for your locks is becoming even more popular. Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey is a fan of mermaid looks, and actress Blake Lively sports mermaid braids often at events. Altuzarra wanted a sexy mermaid feel for their show, as did designer Thakoon at his fashion show, by having a wet and wavy look. The Thierry Mugler show was all about aquatic vibes, done by hairstylist James Pecis, using gel to smooth the top of the head that features a center part, with waves all around it down to the shoulders. Braids add a fun touch, which complements how we feel in the spring and summer when we are outdoors more. It’s a great hairstyle for travelling, going to the beach or spicing up your office look. If you have a party to attend, this is a playful, while still sophisticated choice. When the weather is getting warmer, this is the perfect look!

#2 High Volume Ponytail

This season the high ponytail is being taken to a whole new level. Hair gurus are saying that 2017 is when the high pony will make its big mark. Adding a lot of volume to the pony and a decent hold of hairspray is the secret touch. You start by spraying at the roots and brushing toward the top of your crown, then flat iron the pony, while finishing it with hair spray. For more looks you can also curl, wave or braid the pony. It can be worn casually when you’re on the go, or when you’re dressed up nicely, too. Celebrities like Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Sabrina Carpenter, Hailey Baldwin and Kylie Jenner have been rockin’ the high pony on the red carpet. New York Fashion Week for Spring 2017 is seeing a lot of high volume ponytails. Designer Nicholas K and Brandon Maxwell, in particular, have been incorporating the fierce pony into their runway shows. Ponytails are not just for children. This season the high volume ponytail is here to push the limits with a classic hairstyle!

#3 Midway Waves

There’s something about waves that make hair look chic and fun. This spring it is all about having beach waves and barrel curls half way down your hair. Rebecca Minkoff used this hair trend in her New York Fashion Week Spring 2017 collection. The style is to have sleek, straight hair on top, tucked behind your ears. Then have fresh and fun waves, from midway down. Stars like Chrissy Teigen, Lana Del Rey, Mandy Moore, and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), have been slaying with this hair style. The trend is sleek and polished on top, playful and free on the bottom. It creates a modern fairytale look.

#4 Messy Hair Don’t Care

Many stars have been enjoying the messy hair on purpose look. It can actually take a lot of time and effort to have messy hair, although you’re trying to give the illusion you spent no time on your hair. Just like Beyoncé sings, “I woke up like this.” Even though it’s supposed to seem like you didn’t brush your hair, and look that way, you have to use product and tools. Olivia Munn has been loving the messy look. Supermodel, Cara Delevingle, is a fan of letting your hair down with loose waves – creating a natural and fresh look. Jessica Biel likes natural wavy hair worn all down, with chic and sleek appearance, aside from the waves.

To create the shine and frizzfree hairs, use a finishing spray to give it a shimmer. Kenra’s silkening mist gives a brilliant shine instantly to any look. To help you’re your hair healthy, Kenra also has a hot spray that protects and finishes, when you’re using iron tools on your hair. Hailey Baldwin, is making the look longer and messier. A lot of times at events, she will have her layers down and loose, while flipped out. To see the layers even better, she tucks one side of her hair behind her ear. (And you can, too.) It creates more flare, and it can give a casual feel. Actress, Gina Rodgriguez, is a fan of the blunt ends look with hair freely down, too.

#5 All Layered Up

Layer your hair up and down with love. Winter may be ending, but that doesn’t mean our layers have to. Sure, with spring we can switch our sweaters and scarves for lighter clothing. However; we shouldn’t get rid of all of our layers! Having layers in your hair is a huge trend right now. Actresses, Felicity Jones and Kerry Washington, among many others, have added more layers in their locks. Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen featured layered and slicked back hairstyles in their fashion shows. The freshly showered look is becoming a trending hairstyle, and it helps showcase layers in your hair in a fresh way. Anna Kendrick, Drew Barrymore, Emma Watson and Blake Lively are a fan of showing off layers in your hair, by having it all worn down with flipped out curls or straight and sleek layers. Layer up!
