Style, Decor & More: Create Your Own Shabby Chic Twine Ornaments

Create Your Own Shabby Chic Twine Ornaments

Guest Post

Every year, I like to go for different themes for my holiday décor. It really depends on what inspires me for the season. Sometimes, I like to go the classic route, with a simplistic yet, sophisticated red-and-green theme. During my college years, I was in an ultra-feminine phase and embellished my then-apartment with pink and silver ornaments. It was oh-so fabulous; I loved every aspect of it!

For this Christmas season, I am totally feeding off of the “glamorous, rustic vibe.” There’s just something about natural palettes, twine rope and burlap that makes me all giddy inside.

I was racking my brain for some DIY ideas. I like the idea of making my own projects for both budget’s and creativity’s sake. Recently, I came up with my Twine-Wrapped Ornaments: they’re easy to put together and won’t break the bank. Plus, they totally adhere to my rustic or "shabby chic holiday look”, which I’ve finally decided to use as this year’s theme.

Do you ever use twine for your holiday decorations? What ornaments have you made yourself? Let me know in the comments below! I would love to see your ideas!

Twine-Wrapped Ornaments
Supplies
Popsicle sticks
Hot glue gun
Twine

Instructions
Start by gluing your popsicle sticks together to form a simple star frame. Allow the glue to dry completely so that you have a sturdy structure.

Start wrapping! I like to wrap the ends of the star first. I go around each section as tightly as possible, hot gluing the twine’s ends to the popsicle stick structure.

Next, wrap the middle portion of the star as tightly as possible, again, gluing the ends of the twine. (It’s best of you do all of your gluing on the backside of the ornament).

Cut a piece of twine, about 7-9 inches long. Loop it and glue it on the back of your ornament. This is what you’ll use to hang it up on the tree.
