Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil {Review}

Today I am reviewing billion dollar brows’ Universal Brow Pencil. The description on the box states that the specially formulated pencil will match all eyebrow shades, hence the word “universal” in its title, so it’s time to put the “one color fits all” claim to the test!
After taking the pencil out of its packaging for the first time, I noticed that it was a good size. It’s very equivalent to the size of other popular brow pencils on the market right now. The pencil is double-sided: one side with the colored product, and the other with a spoolie brush. In my opinion, spoolies are ESSENTIAL for brow products, because it makes it so much easier to blend out the product and adjust how much of it you want to be distributed in each area. The product end of the pencil is crayon-like and retractable, which is a great feature because you never have to actually sharpen it, but can just simply twist up when you need more product.

The actual formula of the product is super creamy, which would make it ideal for users with skin on the drier side. On the other hand, it would probably not be the best choice for oily skin, because the creaminess in combination with sweat and/or oil would probably cause smearing. For the same reason, I wouldn’t recommend it for situations in which you’re depending on your makeup to stay waterproof!

The formula is also very pigmented. If you have light eyebrows, you do not need to use much product at all to fill them in! I swatched it on the back of my hand (shown below), gradually increasing the pressure applied from barely any on the left, to the maximum amount (without breaking the crayon tip) on the right.
Depending on your shade, you will need to adjust how much pressure is necessary to match your brows. I would recommend starting off with light pressure, and then applying more if necessary to create your desired look. I personally like to make the mid-arch to tail end region of my brow darker, so I pressed harder while filling in that area in order to achieve that effect. Below is a before and after photo showing my cousin's results with Billion Dollar Brows' eyebrow pencil:

This pencil is “universal” in the sense that the pressure can be adjusted to match almost every brunette shade, but if your brows are on the blonde or reddish side, I would recommend a different product for a better match! On a particularly humid day, or a poolside afternoon, I would also opt for a product with a less creamy formula. However, if you have dry skin, or are living in a climate with drier weather, this would be a great product for you. My takeaway: a great eyebrow pencil, but may not work as well in humid weather conditions!

Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil can be purchased at Kohls.com/Beauty for $18.

    1. Hi Tina, As far as I can tell, you can earn Kohl's Cash and discounts should apply. There were not any promo codes currently being offered to try it out.

  2. Now these are some nice brow pencils! I love that you can have some control of the line and make your brows as thin or as thick as you want them to be. I also like that you never have to sharpen the pencil, this helps keep from having to deal with pencil shavings.

    1. Hi D.P., I agree. Pencil shavings are so messy and BDB's pencil gives you a lot of flexibility for different brow looks.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. This looks like such a great brow pencil and I love that color. I have never been so good with makeup but this looks pretty easy to apply and use correctly. I think I will have to pick it up next time I am at Kohl's which is almost all of the time! haha

  4. I am looking for a good eyebrow pencil because I am not happy with the powder I am using. I am going to pick this up the next time I am at Kohl's and since I have a 30% off coupon it's a no brainer. I like that you can make it darker with pressure since I have a hard time finding my right shade. This will save me trial and error in purchasing.

  6. I have been looking for a new eyebrow pencil - my tones are light to dark brown with some blonde and reddish highlights. This pencil may work well for me because it seems you can adjust the brunette shades easily with how much product you use, as well as manage the shape of the brow. Thanks for the info!

  7. Since I have very light eyebrows, I find it imperative to fill in my brows so I'm always on the lookout for great pencils (I love using pencils more than powder). Thanks for this!

  9. Ok, I know I'm often intrigued by beauty products that I see on Blogs but I have to say that I've never bought them. This one I will DEFINITELY buy!!! I wonder where they would sell it in Canada because we don't have a Kohls??!

  10. I am always at Kohl's so I will have to check it out like that it can match most shades of brown and I do like creamy types I have dry skin too.

  11. I tried the brow powders and could never get them to work properly for me. I use pencils but they never seem to last. I may have to give this one a try to see if it works better for my active lifestyle.
