Is your family room in need of updating? Sometimes choosing a style to call your own is not always easy, but only you can infuse your warmth and personality into your space.

While browsing through Joss & Main's home decorating site this morning, I stumbled upon a traditional sofa that most likely sits in thousands of family/living rooms across America, and thought "How can we update the look of a room with a traditional sofa?"  Let's face it, most people don't want to purchase a new sofa every time they update their decor.  In the room shown below, I've combined a "traditional sofa" with updated accent pieces for a fresh modern look with a vintage feel.  The look of the room is an electic style. When you choose an eclectic style, you can mix many styles together to create a dramatic appearance. This eclectic mix of casual and elegant pieces creates a look that is refined and chic, yet comfortable and approachable.
Are you a fan of eclectic pieces in your home or are you the type of person who wants everything to match?

  2. Ohhh that is SO pretty! I can never decide between a darker palate and a light one like this! I LOVE them both! I love neutrals, browns, tans, greens, with splash of yellow but I also love white, blue, that fresh breezy sea side look. Darn Gemini split personality! LOL

  3. I like the lighter items with one darker accent piece. It really adds a comforting element to the room and with one piece that really pops!

  4. Love the bookshelf and the chandelier. Not sure which of the two dogs would claim the chair first but they would love a chair like that.

  6. Our house is all eclectic, NOTHING matches. I wish it went together better than it does but no, it doesn't all need to match. Love the pairing of blue and silver.

  7. Definitely my house is eclectic. But my new project is going to be my master bedroom: All black with pop of color. I'm thinking in yellow and red.
