Style, Decor & More: For The Love of Apothecary Jars!

For The Love of Apothecary Jars!

The origin of the word "apothecary" means one who sells or prepares herbs or drugs for medicinal purposes. There was a time when pharmacies were a place of social gathering and apothecary shops were everywhere. As glassware fell into common use, different designs and shapes began to emerge.

Today, attractive and decorative apothecary jars are still being used in home decor, and the creative uses are endless.

Sweet treats are out on display and look extra delish in apothecary jars. Use jars of seasonal goodies and celebrate the holidays year round. For example, after Valentine's Day you could eat up all the candy (or share it, I suppose) and afterward replenish the jar with spring goodies!  I love this fresh spring idea:

Use apothecary jars in the kitchen to store dry pastas, beans, tea bags, sugar, and more.

Glass apothecary jars add elegance and style to the bath.
Don't forget the Q-tips!

I will be sharing the next photo with my daughter. I will try anything to get the nail polish off of the desk in her bedroom. {smile}

I have "air" plants that have outgrown their little terrarium homes. Thanks to the inspiration photo below, I will be looking for apothecary jars instead of terrariums. Cacti lovers should take note too!

  1. Great ideas! I use mine as center pieces on my dining room table, and as decor in the bathroom.

  9. I love the look of all these ideas. I have shells that we collect each time we go to the beach in one. With young kids I don't have many decorations around the house, but one day.
